Addison has a lot to offer within the town limits and packs a tremendous amount of shopping, nightlife, and restaurants into an area of only 4.4 square miles, as well as providing easy access to the rest of what Dallas has to offer. Addison, once known as Noell Junction, changed its name to Addison in 1902, taking its name from the first Postmaster who served from 1908 to 1916, Addison Robertson. On June 15th, 1953, the City of Addison was incorporated. * Since the 1980’s Addison has experienced explosive growth; even though the permanent population is only about 13,000 during the day, the population has swelled to more than 100,000! Addison is an excellent place for both families and singles; with the abundance of parks and green spaces, there is always a great place to catch some fun and get a great walk-in with the many walking trails to utilize.

Addison has more than 180 restaurants and some 23 different hotels. Addison Airport takes up half the city’s space and is the third busiest general aviation airport in the nation. The town is an economic powerhouse and includes major corporate headquarters such as Dresser Industries and Mary Kay Cosmetics. A unique lifestyle gives Addison a flavor all its own, as the community boasts many amenities not typically found in other suburban towns. For example, the Cavanaugh Flight Museum offers a collection of aircraft dating back to the First World War, while the WaterTower Theater produces numerous plays and musicals throughout the year. You will find plenty to keep you entertained at the Addison Improv Comedy Club, which hosts many well-known acts. If you happen to be around during the month of October, be sure to check out Oktoberfest, which is one of the most authentic German celebrations anywhere in the United States.
